MULTIPLEXE is a small-scale exhibition space. It was imagined and built by artists Benjamin De Backer and Diego Thielemans between 2018 and 2021.
Exhibitions are organized in this space on the basis of invitations to artists and on the occasion of workshops. The small size of the exhibition rooms invites to rethink the different relationships that institute the work of art; to the public, to the building, to the external conditions, to the production or to the temporality.
Moreover, the building is modular and can be thought of as being in continuous transformation. The relative ease with which architectural changes can be implemented makes MULTIPLEXE a privileged place for experimentation in the art of the exhibition and the exhibition of art, in the most serious mode, just like in a doll’s house.

MULTIPLEXE est un espace d’exposition de petite taille. Il a été imaginé et construit par les artistes Benjamin De Backer et Diego Thielemans entre 2018 et 2021.
Dans ce lieu, s’organisent des expositions sur base d’invitations à des artistes et à l’occasion de workshops. La petite taille des salles d’expositions convie à repenser les différents rapports qui instituent l’œuvre d’art ; au public, au bâtiment, aux conditions extérieures, à la production ou encore à la temporalité.
De plus, le bâtiment est modulaire et se pense en transformation continue. La relative facilité de mise en oeuvre de modifications architecturales fait de MULTIPLEXE un lieu privilégié d’expérimentation en art de l’exposition et en exposition de l’art, sur le mode le plus sérieux qui soit, exactement comme dans une maison de poupée.
